Dane Walker, composer for the award winning film, "The Runner from Ravenshead," began studying piano at four years of age. Subsequent to beginning piano lessons, Dane also saw the movie, “Star Wars,” in the theatre. This began Dane's love of music and of film music, in particular.

Growing up Dane studied classical piano and began writing original arrangements for piano and voice, as well as other instruments at the age of 15. At 18, while doing humanitarian work in Moscow, Russia, Dane composed the music for a variety of short films, documentaries and multimedia presentations to help document and tell the story of the Russian people for whom he was working.

Returning home from Russia in 1997, Dane took the themes he had written and turned them into his first album, “Russia My Russia,” which he released in 1999. He also composed the music for a short independent film entitled, “No Greater Love.” In 2003 he released a solo piano album of Christmas music. The album entitled, “Amid The Winter Snow,” contained all original arrangements and compositions. In 2005 Dane followed that album with another solo album of arrangements entitled, “Hymnody.”

In 2006 Dane moved to Boston with his family and entered Berklee College of Music‘s Film Scoring program. In 2008, while still in school, Dane composed the music for an independent documentary entitled, “A Special Place,” which revolved around the 2007 campus shooting at Virginia Tech. Dane also composed the score for an independent short comedic/action film entitled, “What Curse?” In the fall of 2008, the Berklee film scoring faculty chose Dane’s final film scoring project as a finalist in the Directed Study Academy Awards. Dane graduated Magna Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music in May of 2009.

In the summer of 2009, Dane composed the music for the independent feature film, "The Runner from Ravenshead." (Soundtrack available at iTunes, Amazon and CDBaby.) The film won three awards at the SAIC Film Festival, including the Audience Choice Award. Dane is now working on the music for another independent feature film entitled, “Aim, Point, Shoot,” which is currently in production.

Besides being a musician, Dane is an ardent sports fan. He especially loves the NFL and the Washington Redskins. Dane also enjoys spending time with the most important people in his life - his wife, Kirstie, and their two children, Ivy and Thomas.
